Dec 2, 2001 - Faina Zabiogailu, 64, of Haifa, was one of 15 people killed in a suicide bombing on an Egged bus No. 16 in Haifa.

The bombing occurred shortly after noon, when a Hamas suicide bomber boarded an Egged No. 16 bus traveling from the Neveh Sha'anan district, paid the driver with a large bill, then blew himself up as the driver asked him to collect his change.

Faina Zabiogailu immigrated to Israel from the Ukraine seven years ago. She was joined five years later by her only daughter, Larissa (44), who found an apartment near her mother in the port area of Haifa. Zabiogailu worked as a practical nurse in a geriatric hospital in the Neveh Sha'anan quarter of the city. She was returning to her home on the bus which the suicide bomber boarded.

Faina Zabiogailu was laid to rest in Haifa. She is survived by her daughter.
