Yair Amar

Dec 12, 2001 - Yair Amar, 13, of Emmanuel, was one of 11 people killed in a terrorist attack on an Israeli bus and several passenger cars near the entrance to Emmanuel in Samaria.

At 18:00 PM, on the fourth night of Hanukkah, three terrorists attacked a No. 189 Dan bus traveling to the ultra-Orthodox settlement of Emmanuel from Bnei Brak, as well as several passenger cars, with a roadside bomb, anti-tank grenades, and light arms fire at 18:00 P.M. Ten people were killed and about 30 were injured.

Yair was on his way home from the yeshiva where he studied to light the Hanukkah candles with his family in Emmanuel when he was killed in the attack.

Rabbi David Grossman, the head of the yeshiva said, "Just before he left home we had a Hanukkah party with thousands of kids. Yair danced and was very happy. Yair was a very talented and special boy, always ready to help others. When new immigrants recently came to study at the yeshiva, Yair was the one who helped them."

Yair Amar was buried in the Yarkon cemetery. He is survived by his parents, Oren and Ora, his brother and three sisters.
