Oct 21, 2002 - Suad Jaber, 23, of Taibe, was one of 14 persons killed when a bus was blown up in a suicide attack by a terrorist driving an explosives-laden jeep near the Karkur junction.

Suad, a student of mathematics and statistics at the University of Haifa, was the eldest of three children of the Jaber family. She was on her way to the university to hand in a final seminar paper in order to complete her BA degree requirements when she was killed.

Suad's uncle, Bassam Jaber, editor of the Arabic language Panorama weekly published in Israel, said that the family has always believed in peace and is against violence and bloodshed on both sides. "Peace is the best way for Jews and Arabs to live together."

Suad, described by her uncle as very gifted, responsible and mature, worked for Panorama until a year ago and hoped to find a job in a bank after comleting her studies.

Suad Jaber was buried in Taibe. She is survived by her parents, a brother and sister.
