Dan Imani

Mar 9, 2002 - Dan Imani, 23, of Jerusalem was one of 11 people killed when a suicide bomber exploded at 22:30 PM Saturday night in a crowded cafe at the corner of Aza and Ben-Maimon streets in the Rehavia neighborhood in the center of Jerusalem.

The bomber walked into the Cafe Moment, located about 100 meters from the prime minister's residence, and detonated a powerful explosive charge that completely gutted the restaurant. The cafe was teeming with dozens of people at the time of the attack. Dan Imani was one of 11 people killed and 54 injured in the explosion.

Dan's family immigrated to Israel from Iran in 1980. The eldest of the family's five children, Hezi, was killed in Lebanon. According to Dan's brother Herzl, their mother is still mourning and he does not know how they would cope with another death. He described his youngest brother Dan as an Israeli patriot, who cared deeply for what was happening in the country.

Dan completed his high school studies at the ORT school in Jerusalem, and then he joined the army. After completing his army service, he helped at the family's clothing store.

According to his brother, Dan was a great Israeli patriot, and he cared deeply for what was happening in Israel. He was an excellent sportsman, a wonderful person, a person with a great sense of humor, smart and funny, say his friends.

Dan Imani was buried in the Givat Shaul cemetery in Jerusalem. He is survived by his parents, Tali and Mordechai, and three siblings.
