Jan 5, 2003 - Lilya Zibstein, 33, of Haifa, was one of 23 people killed when two suicide bombers blew themselves up on a pedestrian mall in Tel Aviv's Naveh Sha'anan neighborhood near the old central bus station.

Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack, which apparently was assisted by Islamic Jihad.

Lilya Zibstein, a mechanical engineer and computer programmer, was on her way home from work and was chatting with fellow workers in the old bus station when she was killed.

After immigrating with her family from Ukraine five years ago and settling in Haifa, Zibstein found work in a hi-tech company in Tel Aviv and moved there. "A pure soul, an amazing girl. It sounds like a cliche, but that was Lilia," said her friend, Matmona Halprovitz. "A wonderful girl, without a single bad word to be said about her.

Lilya Zibstein was buried in the Haifa Cemetery. She is survived by her parents and a sister.
