Zhang Minmin

Jan 13, 2003 - Zhang Minmin, 53, of China, was one of 23 people killed when two suicide bombers blew themselves up on a pedestrian mall in Tel Aviv's Naveh Sha'anan neighborhood near the old central bus station on January 5.

Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack, which apparently was assisted by Islamic Jihad.

Zhang Minmin, from Zhoushan County in Zhejiang Province in southeast China, near Shanghai, had been working as a cook in a Chinese fast food restaurant in the Naveh Sha'anan neighborhood for a year and a half. She had planned to remain in Israel until August to save up money for her son's education.

Zhang was critically wounded in the suicide bombing and had remained unconscious throughout the week. She died on January 13. Two other Chinese nationals were killed and six wounded in the attack.

Zhang Minmin's body will be flown home for cremation following a memorial ceremony in Tel-Aviv. She is survived by her husband and their 22-year-old son.
