Three smuggling tunnels in the Rafah border area were recently targeted by the Israel Air Force in response to the continuous firing of rockets and mortar shells at Israeli southern communities from the Gaza Strip.
Earlier this morning, five mortar shells hit a field in the Sha'ar Hanegev Municipal Council in the western Negev region of Israel. No casualties or damage were reported.
Approximately 670 Kassam rockets, mortar shells and Grad missiles were fired at Israel since the beginning of 2009.
