Aug 9, 2001 - Aliza Malka, 17, a boarding student at Kibbutz Merav, was killed by terrorists in a drive-by shooting at the entrance to the kibbutz in the Gilboa region, west of Beit She'an.

She and three girlfriends were returning from Beit She'an when the terrorists opened fire. Her three friends were injured, one seriously.

Aliza was born in Bat-Yam, and had lived for the past seven years at Kibbutz Merav where she attended school. After a difficult childhood, she had successfully overcome many hardships. Her older brother, who had planned to visit her later in the week, related that he had hoped that one day he could live again together with his siblings as a family.

Aliza Malka was buried in Kibbutz Merav.
