Assaf Yitzhaki, 20, of Lod was killed when a Palestinian terrorist cell infiltrated the northern Gaza District community of Alei Sinai, opening fire on residents and hurling grenades into homes.

At about 7:15 P.M., just after the Sukkot holiday, Palestinian gunmen infiltrated the settlement of Alei Sinai in northern Gaza. They immediately opened fire and threw two hand grenades. Assaf, who had spent the Sukkot holiday with his girlfriend, Liron Harpaz, was killed by a shot to the head, Assaf Yitzhaki. Liron was also killed in the attack, and another 14 were wounded.

Assaf Yitzhaki, who was studying engineering, had suffered from juvenile diabetes since childhood. He had met Liron Harpaz just a month and a half ago at a party, and they had become close friends.

Assaf Yitzhaki was buried in Lod.
