July 16, 2001 - Cpl. Hanit Arami, 19, of Zichron Yaakov, was killed when a bomb exploded in a suicide terrorist attack at a bus stop near the train station in Binyamina.

At about 19:30 on Monday evening, a suicide bomber exploded a bomb at a bus stop near the train station in Binyamina, halfway between Netanya and Haifa. Corporal Hanit Arami was killed instantly. Also killed in the explosion was St.Sgt. Avi Ben Harush. The Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack.

Hanit grew up in Zichron Yaakov, where she excelled in her studies. She had been in the army for about a year, serving in an intelligence unit in Tel Aviv, and was returning home from the base. Her parents, Carmela and Sammy, heard about the bombing on the radio and came to the train station to look for their daughter. Several hours later, they were informed that she had been killed.

Hanit Arami was buried in Zichron Yaakov. She is survived by her parents, an older sister who is serving in the army, and two younger sisters.
