David Yarkoni

May 18, 2001 - David Yarkoni, 53, of Netanya was killed in a suicide bombing at Hasharon Mall in the seaside city of Netanya.
David Yarkoni was killed when the terrorist exploded the bomb he was carrying at the entrance to the shopping mall. Four other people were killed in the blast and over 100 were injured.
David Yarkoni immigrated to Israel from India in 1948. He worked as a gardener at the Wingate Institute for 20 years and had recently started looking for a new job. He is survived by two sisters, both of whom live in the Golan Heights. His brother, Shmuel, died 18-years ago.
Yarkoni's sister, Tova Yevel, described her brother as "a bookworm. He used to read non-stop, especially history books. His house was full of books." His neighbor, Rina Barok, described him as a quiet, modest man who loved movies and had a great knowledge of history.
David Yarkoni was laid to rest in the Netanya cemetery.
