  Esther Alvan

May 29, 2001 - Esther Alvan, 20, of Efrat, was killed in a drive-by shooting on the Jerusalem-Gush Etzion (tunnel) road, just north of Neve Daniel.

Esther Alvan was traveling to Jerusalem with six others when Palestinian gunmen opened fire on the car. Alvan died in hospital from severe head wounds she sustained. Also killed in the attack was Sara Blaustein.

Esther had moved with her parents from Jerusalem to Efrat in 1994, where she served as a youth counsellor as she grew up. As a religious girl, she was doing national service - one year in Jaffa and the second in Ramle - in lieu of army service.

Esther is survived by her parents and a brother, who was injured six months ago in an IDF training accident.

Esther Alvan was buried at Kibbutz Kfar Etzion.
