Oct 28, 2001 - Lydia Marko, 63, of Givat Ada was killed when two Palestinian terrorists, members of the Palestinian police, opened fire from a vehicle on Israeli pedestrians at a crowded bus-stop in downtown Hadera.

On Sunday afternoon, Lydia Marko was waiting for the bus to return home after a dentist's appointment in Hadera. In the center of Hadera, the terrorists spotted a crowd of people waiting at the bus stop and opened fire with automatic rifles. Lydia was one of four women killed in the attack, in which 44 others were wounded.

Lydia Marko was well-known in Givat Ada, where she had worked for many years as a housekeeper at a local branch of Bank Leumi. She was a warm-hearted woman whose home was open to everyone. She had recently expressed fear of taking the bus to Hadera, but had to see the dentist and had no choice.

Lydia Marko was laid to rest in Givat Ada. She is survived by her husband and three children: Moshe (42), Shula (39) and Haya (30).
