Feb 26, 2001 - The body of Mordechai Shefer, 55, of Kfar Sava, was found in an olive grove near Moshav Hagor. An autopsy revealed that he was murdered. Investigators suspect terrorist motives.

Mordechai Shefer, an artist and poet, was a homeopathic doctor, specializing in bio-energy, reflexology and medicinal herbs. He worked at the Binyamina medical center along with five other doctors, and received patients at his private clinics in Kfar Sava and Hadera.

On the morning he was killed, Shefer had taken his wife to work and then gone to spray the trees in the olive grove which belonged to his parents in Moshav Hagor, near the Green Line. His body was found by his wife and son among the olive trees, with the spray canister on his back.

The police originally thought his death was accidental, the result of a fall. The autopsy revealed that he had been shot in the neck.

Shefer met his wife, Zlila, 17 years ago. He left two sons, aged 15 and 13.
