Aug 29, 2001 - Oleg Sotnikov, 35, of Ashdod, a truck driver employed by Dor Energy, was killed in a terrorist shooting attack near the Samaria community of Shavei Shomron, west of Nablus.

At about 10:00 A.M., Oleg Sotnikov entered the Palestinian village of Kutchin in Area B, west of Nablus, to supply cooking gas to the local residents. He drank tea with Abu-Rami, the Palestinian gas agent, at his home. On leaving the village, terrorists opened fire on his truck from an ambush. Sotnikov apparently left the truck, hoping to flee by foot to the nearby main highway, but was gunned down.

Oleg Sotnikov was married to Irina; they had one son. He immigrated to Israel from the Ukraine three years ago, after divorcing his wife. A month ago Oleg and Irina remarried.

Oleg Sotnikov was buried in Ashdod. He is survived by his parents, brother, sister, wife and son, aged 15, who is attending school in the Ukraine.
