May 18, 2001 - Tirza Polonsky, 66, of Moshav Kfar Haim was killed in a suicide bombing at Hasharon Mall in the seaside city of Netanya.

Tirza Polonsky was shopping in the Hasharon Mall as she does every Friday when the terrorist exploded the bomb he was carrying at the entrance to the shopping mall. Four other people were killed in the blast and over 100 were injured.

Polonsky was a teacher for many years and worked at a community day-club in Hadera after her retirement. The day-club asked her to replace another teacher that fateful Friday, but she refused because she did not want to give up her day of shopping.

Tirza Polonsky is survived by a husband, three daughters, two sons and 11 grandchildren. She was laid to rest at the Kfar Haim cemetery.
