May 18, 2001 - Vladislav Sorokin, 34, was killed in a suicide bombing at Hasharon Mall in the seaside city of Netanya.

Vladislav Sorokin, originally from the Ukraine, immigrated to Israel with his family in November 2000 from Magnitogorsk in northern Russia, where they had already studied Hebrew in preparation for the move. In Israel, they joined his wife's younger brother, German, who had immigrated five years earlier.

Vladislav worked as a helicopter technician. He is survived by his wife and 6-year-old son Sasha, who were both seriously injured in the bombing.

Since their arrival in Israel, the Sorokin family lived together in one apartment in Netanya together with German's girlfriend, Yulia Tratiakova. They went together to the mall on Friday morning, where Vladislav and Yulia were killed.
