Yosef (Yossi) Ish-Ran

May 9, 2001 - Yosef (Yossi) Ish-Ran, 14, of Tekoa, was stoned to death while hiking with his friend near his home, south of Jerusalem.
Yossi was found together with his friend Kobi Mandell, stoned to death in a cave about 200 meters from the outermost residence of Tekoa, a community south of Jerusalem where both lived.
The boys' families only discovered they were missing close to midnight, after they had skipped school to hike in the dry riverbed of Nahal Hariton.
Following his murder, friends, neighbors and relatives crowded into Yossi's home to try to console his parents and his three remaining siblings, Dolev (19), Noav (10), and Yahili (4). Yossi's parents had planned to move into a new home which they recently completed. "They were in the midst of preparing to move in and now they don't know how they will be able to face Yossi's empty new room", said a neighbor.
Yossi was laid to rest in the Har Hamenuchot cemetery in Jerusalem.
