Zohar Shurgi
Aug 7, 2001 - Zohar Shurgi, 40, of Moshav Yafit in the Jordan Valley, was shot and killed by terrorists while driving home at night on the Trans-Samaria Highway.
According to preliminary evidence, the Palestinians waited in ambush on a hill overlooking the road between Ariel and Tapuah, and when Zohar Shurgi drove by at 10:40 P.M., they fired on his car and then headed into Palestinian-controled Area A. A paramedic pronounced Zohar Shurgi dead at the scene.
Zohar had lived with his wife Nava and their three children, aged 3 to 13, in Moshav Yafit for the past six years, to which they moved from Ashdod. He raised horses and took part with his children in riding competitions.
As a building contractor in Tel-Aviv, he often traveled on the Trans-Samaria Highway, the most direct route from his home in the Jordan Valley. He used to say, "Every bullet has its address."
Zohar Shurgi was buried in his home city of Ashdod.
