  Zvi Shelef

May 31, 2001 - Zvi Shelef, 63, of Mevo Dotan, was killed in a drive-by shooting attack in northern Samaria north of Tulkarem.

Zvi Shelef was struck by five bullets while driving near the village of Baka al Sharkia. He died en route to hospital.

Shelef was one of the founders of Mevo Dotan, a secular community in northern Samaria. Shelef strongly supported the peace process and was on friendly terms with his Arab neighbors. He used to say that he distinguishes between the current situation and his Arab friends. A sticker on his car read: "It's good to make peace for one's country."

Zvi Shelef is survived by his wife, Rachel. He was buried in Mevo Dotan, next to the grave of his only son, Omer, who died in an accident two years ago in India.
