Mar 31, 2002 - Adi Shiran, 17, of Haifa was one of 15 people killed in a suicide bombing in Haifa, in the Matza restaurant of the gas station near the Grand Canyon shopping mall.

Just after 2:30 PM on Sunday afternoon, during the Passover holiday, the terrorist entered the popular Matza restaurant in the Neve Sha'anan district near the Grand Canyon mall. The explosion tore the roof off the one-story building, and blew out the windows, instantly killing 14 people, and leaving horrific scenes of people on fire, and people with lost limbs. Over 40 people were injured.

Adi Shiran was eating lunch with her parents, Shimon and Hili at the Matza restaurant. Adi was killed in the blast; her parents, Shimon and Hili, were seriously injured. While Hili eventually recovered, Shimon, who suffered a serious head wound, remained hospitalized for seven years until succumbing to his wounds on April 11, 2009.

Adi wrote music and sang, and was a member of the school singing group. She dreamed of being accepted into an army performing troupe and of studying acting in London.

Adi Shiran was buried in Haifa. She leaves behind her parents, her brother Eyal (24) and sister Anat (21).
