July 17, 2002 - Adrian Andres, 30, of Romania was one of five people killed in a double suicide bombing on Neve Sha'anan Street near the old central bus station in Tel Aviv.

The two suicide bombers blew themselves up at a distance of 15-20 meters apart on the busy Neve Sha'anan street at 10:10 P.M., an area frequented by many foreign workers. The bombs, which were strapped to the waists of the bombers, he said, contained nails and metal shards. Five people, three of them foreign workers, were killed and about 40 were injured.

Adrian Andres lived with his wife and son in a village near the city of Cluj (Kolosvar) in Romania. He worked in mines in the area and was seriously injured in a mine accident in 1992. In 1996 he came to work in Israel, and returned home after three years.

A year and a half ago he decided to return, hoping to earn enough money to buy an apartment in his home town. He lived with his brother-in-law on Levanda Street, close to where the bomb went off. The two used to spend their leisure hours at the kiosk where the bombing took place. Adrian was killed in the blast.

Adrian Andres's body will be flown home for burial in Romania. He is survived by his wife Monica and their 8-year-old son.
