  Albert Maloul

May 28, 2002 - Albert Maloul, 50, of Jerusalem, was killed when shots were fired at the car in which he was traveling south on the Ramallah bypass road.

Albert Maloul and his cousin, Herzl Maloul, were returning home to Jerusalem from Eli, where they operate the swimming pool, when a group of armed Palestinians approached the car and shot them at point-blank range. Albert was hit in his back by the gunfire and was pronounced dead on the scene. Herzl, who was driving, was lightly injured.

Albert was glad to find the job in Eli just a week and a half ago, after having been unemployed for several months. His life had been spared two months ago, when he left the supermarket in Kiryat Yovel just minutes before the suicide bombing.

Albert Maloul was buried in Jerusalem. He is survived by his wife, Helen, and their three children: Shahar (25), Lior (19) and Edan (12).
