Mar 29, 2002 - Lt. Boaz Pomerantz, 22, of Kiryat Shmona was killed in the course of the IDF anti-terrorist action in Ramallah.

Boaz Pomerantz celebrated the Passover seder meal with his family on Wednesday night, and on Thursday morning he received an urgent call to return to his unit, the elite Egoz battalion. He was killed by Palestinian fire in the early hours of the action in Ramallah.

The Pomerantz family is well known in Kiryat Shmona. "Boaz was motivated to serve in the army's special units, so he started getting in shape before joining the army," said his school's sport teacher.

His brother Eliav, 24, also served as an officer in the same unit, and persuaded his brother to join. In 1974, during Passover, Boaz's father, Avner, survived a terrorist attack in Kiryat Shmona, in which 18 others died.

Lt. Boaz Pomerantz was buried in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shmona. He is survived by his parents, a brother and a sister.
