Elisheva Meshulami

Aug 19, 2003 - Elisheva Meshulami, 16, of Bnei Brak was one of 23 persons murdered by a suicide bomber on a No. 2 Egged bus in the capital's Shmuel Hanavi neighborhood.

The attack took place at about 9 p.m. as the bus was making its way from the Western Wall to several religious neighborhoods. The Hamas suicide bomber, apparently disguised as a religious Jew, boarded the bus and detonated his bomb shortly afterwards. Seven of those killed were children and over 130 people were wounded.

Elisheva and her mother, Sima, 55, had come to Jerusalem to pray at the Western Wall and were on their way home when the terrorist struck. Her mother was seriously wounded.

"Elisheva was the youngest of eight children, and everyone loved her very much," said an aunt. "She was very sociable, and all her friends in the Beit Ya'acov Seminary in Bnei Brak -- actually everyone who knew her -- cannot get over losing her."

"She was a beautiful girl, a real flower," said her uncle, Arye Spokoiny. "She was a delicate girl, blonde with blue eyes, who never thought about herself, only about her fellowman."

Elisheva Meshulami was buried in Bnei Brak. She is survived by her parents and seven siblings.
