June 5, 2003 - The bodies of David Shambik, 26, and Moran Menachem, 17, both of Jerusalem, were found near Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital in Jerusalem, brutally beaten and stabbed to death.

After completing his shift as a security guard at the Kfar Shaul psychiatric hospital in Jerusalem, David (Dudu) Shambik went home for a short while and then went to pick upfor what was to have been a romantic evening. Moran. The two drove out of the city and stopped on the path linking Moshav Even Sapir and the Hadassah Hospital parking lot It appears they were attacked some time around midnight. Their bodies were found the following morning, brutally beaten and stabbed to death. David's body was found next to his car, while Moran's body was found in the vehicle.

Moran was the oldest of seven siblings. She was studying hairstyling and cosmetics, and loved to dance. Her father Nissim said, "She wanted to be famous, but not like this." Moran was broke her arm three weeks earlier in an accident, and Dudu took her to the hospital and cared for her devotedly. Nissim added, "I was sorry to meet Dudu's parents like this. I thought I would meet them to discuss a wedding."

Moran Menachem was buried in Jerusalem.
