Avraham (Avi) Avraham
Mar 14, 2004 - Avraham Avraham, 34, of Ashdod was one of ten people were killed in a double suicide bombing at Ashdod Port. Hamas and Fatah claimed responsibility for the attack.
Shortly before 5:00 p.m. the first terrorist got inside the port and blow himself up close to a group of workers standing next to a machine repair workshop. The explosion blew the roof off the workshop, and five workers were killed immediately. A few moments later, the second suicide terrorist detonated his bomb on the sidewalk in a storage and refrigeration area adjacent to the port. The blast destroyed a trailer, killing three office workers. Two others died in hospital; 16 were wounded.
Avi Avraham was a member of the Karaite community in Ashdod, whose family immigrated from Egypt to Israel after the establishment of the state in 1948. He worked for the past eight years as a crane electrician in the Ashdod port. Just four months ago he married Etti, and they dreamt of raising a family, of traveling, of moving to a larger home. Avi, along with Gil Abutbul were members of the Ashdod Sports Club veterans soccer team. Instead of playing their scheduled league game, the players will attend their funerals.
Avi Avraham was buried in Ashdod. He is survived by his wife, Etti.
