Yuval Ozana
Feb 22, 2004 - Yuval Ozana, 32, of Jerusalem was one of eight persons murdered and more than 60 wounded by a Palestinian suicide bomber on a No. 14A Egged bus opposite the capital's Liberty Bell Park.
The attack took place at about 8:30 a.m. as the crowded, rush-hour bus was making its way downtown. The Fatah Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack, which was carried out by Muhammad Za'ul, from the Bethlehem area. He had boarded the bus undetected and was overlooked by two security inspectors who boarded after him and alighted before he detonated the explosives he was carrying in a backback.
Yuval Ozana had worked the night shift at a supermarket in the capital's Talpiot section and was on his way to help his parents at their mini-market when he was murdered.
Ozana, his wife, Katy, and their two small children had been living with his parents to save money, but planned to return to their apartment in the Pisgat Ze'ev neighborhood.
"He was crazy about his children," related his brother-in-law, Bambi Peretz. "He was full of warmth and devotion, and loved to help everyone."
The Ozana family had been struck by terrorists twice before: A cousin was permanently crippled by a suicide bomber in downtown Jerusalem two years ago; a brother-in-law was shot to death in a terrorist ambush near Ofra last year.
Yuval Ozana was buried at Jerusalem's Har Hamenuhot Cemetery. He is survived by his parents, Shula and David, his wife, Katy, and his children, Daniel, four, and Talya, three.
