Aryeh (Arik) Nagar

25 Feb 2005

Feb 25, 2005 - Aryeh (Arik) Nagar, 37, of Kfar Sava was one of five people killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up outside the Stage club on the Tel Aviv promenade at around 11:20 P.M. The Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack.

Arik Nagar, like Itzik Buzaglo, had come to the Stage club to attend a surprise birthday party for a friend. Although Arik's family is religiously observant, he agreed to come to the party after the Shabbat meal with his parents. He was killed in the blast.

Arik was one of six children. He completed his studies at the yeshiva in Kfar Habad, and then enlisted as a paratrooper. His last name, Nagar, meaning carpenter, was also his profession: he made furniture.

His friends described him as being very devoted to the army and an avid athlete. "Arik served in all the most dangerous places in the army, in Lebanon and the territories," a friend said. "Death caught him in the center of the country, in Tel Aviv."

Aryeh Nagar was buried in Kfar Saba. He is survived by his parents, Yaakov and Ora, and five siblings.
