Amnon Rosenberg

June 5, 2008 - Amnon Rosenberg, 51, of Kibbutz Nirim was killed when a mortar bomb fired by Palestinian terrorists from the Gaza Strip hit the Nirlat paint factory in Kibbutz Nir-Oz. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.

Shortly before noon, several mortar bombs exploded outside the factory. Amnon Rosenberg, a Nirlat employee, was killed and four others were wounded while running for cover.

Amnon, born in Beersheba, had been a member of Kibbutz Nirim since 1982, when he married kibbutz member Tali. A dedicated worker, he also had a black belt in karate and  taught self-defense and yoga to children. He also volunteered with the civilian border patrol.

Amnon Rosenberg was buried in Kibbutz Nirim. He is survived by his wife Tali, two sons - two sons, Dor 27, and Eldar 22 - and daughter Yarden, 12.
