Feb 10, 2010 - NCO Sgt 1st Class Ihab Khatib, 28, of the Arab-Druze village of Kfar Maghar, was knifed to death at the Tapuach junction in the West Bank by a senior Palestinian police officer.

Ihab Khatib was killed while in his vehicle at a traffic light in the Tapuah junction, south of Nablus. He was sitting with his window open when the Palestinian police officer pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest. The NCO drove a short distance before losing consciousness and the vehicle spun out of control. Khatib received initial medical treatment at the scene of the incident and later died of his wounds en route to the hospital. The attacker, Mahmoud Yusef Nimer Hattib, was apprehended.

Ihab Khatib, the eldest son in his family, was a non-commissioned logistics officer in the Kfir Brigade. His uncle Saliman Khatib, said, "He was a boy with a heart of gold who loved to help everyone, and loved to serve in the military so he continued on even after his mandatory service was completed. Ihab loved his service and wanted to advance."

His funeral is expected to take place at the military cemetery in Maghar. He is survived by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
