French court ruling on al-Dura libel case

21 May 2008

The court rejected claim of libel for calling the France 2 filmed report of Mohammad al-Dura a hoax.

On May 21, 2008, the French Court of Appeals found in favor of Philippe Karsenty, overturning a lower court decision that he had libeled France 2 and its Jerusalem correspondent Charles Enderlin when he accused them of knowingly misleading the world about the death of the Palestinian child Muhammad al-Dura at the Netzarim junction in the Gaza Strip on September 30, 2000 in an apparent gun battle between Palestinians and IDF troops. A subsequent IDF investigation  concluded that the boy could not have been hit by Israeli bullets.
