This morning (22 September), a Palestinian woman sprayed toxic acid, injuring an IDF soldier, while crossing through the humanitarian lane meant for medical and urgent cases only at the Hawara crossing, south of Nablus. The soldier received initial medical treatment on the scene, and was urgently taken to a hospital for further treatment. Three Palestinians at the crossing were also injured by the acid.
The woman was arrested on the scene by security forces and was later transferred to the Israeli Police.
An initial investigation shows that the Palestinian woman had preformed a similar act of terror on September 10, 2008, in which an IDF soldier was lightly injured by toxic acid she sprayed on his face.
Despite these terror attacks, the IDF is currently investing many resources to renovate and improve the flow of traffic at the Hawara crossing, for the benefit of the Palestinian population in the area.
