Israel takes note of the statement made today (Tuesday, 15 June) in the Human Rights Council in Geneva condemning the extensive human rights violations in Iran and the cruel repression of Iranian citizens by the regime in Tehran.

Today's statement is another expression of the loathing felt by enlightened states the world over towards the Iranian regime. Together with the Security Council resolution passed last week concerning sanctions against Iran, it reflects the international community’s impatience with the nature of the regime in Iran.

Israel views this statement as a step in the right direction and anticipates that further measures will come in its wake.
