Israel Foreign Ministry response to the IAEA report

16 Nov 2007
The report issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency confirms that Iran is in continuing violation of two UN Security Council resolutions, and is continuing to promote its nuclear program.

(Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman)

The report issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirms that Iran is in continuing violation of two UN Security Council resolutions, and is continuing to promote its nuclear program.

In Israel's view the report reaffirms that firm action is required on the part of the international community, including enhanced sanctions by the Security Council and beyond it.

The report indicates a steady  decline in the information which Iran is conveying to the Agency on key issues relating to its current nuclear activity. The Agency states in the report that in the current situation it cannot fulfill its mandate and cannot confirm with credibility the absence of undeclared nuclear activities and/or materials by Iran. This reaffirms the  assessment that Iran is continuing in its effort to gain time vis-à-vis the international community in its efforts to attain nuclear weapons.

Israel is continuing to study the details of the report.
