Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni welcomes the INTERPOL General Assembly decision (7 November) in Marrakesh to issue international arrest warrants for the five Iranians and one Lebanese member of Hizbullah, Imad Moughnieh, implicated in the terror bombing of the AMIA building of the Buenos Aires Jewish community in 1994.

“The link between Iran and world terrorism, for which many innocent people lost their lives, has long been proven, and the time had come for this decision. Iran, its leaders and terror masterminds must know that they will have to pay the price.”

Foreign Minister Livni praised the determination of the Argentine government in continuing to demand justice for those responsible, despite the many years that have passed since the attack. During the United Nations General Assembly session in September, Livni discussed this matter with the foreign minister of Argentina and with Cristina Kirchner, then wife of the President of Argentina and a candidate for president, and urged them not to desist in their efforts.
