We are happy you have decided to broadcast from our International Press Center, in the Jerusalem Municipality, at Safra Square.
The Spokesman's staff in the Jerusalem Municipality, together with the Foreign Ministry and the Prime Minister's office will do everything they can to ensure a pleasant visit, and help you in all of your technical matters.
The International Press Center which was established by the Prime Minister's Office, the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Tourism and the Jerusalem Municipality will supply broadcasting services to hundreds of journalists who will arrive at the center.
The International Press Center established for the occasion of His Holiness, Pope Benedict the 16th's visit to Israel, will be located in building number 1, on the 6th floor, of the Jerusalem Municipality at Safra Square.
The center will be open from Sunday-Friday, May 10th through the 15th, between 08:00-20:00 (Friday between 08:00-13:00).
It is possible to arrive before opening hours or stay after closing time if coordinated with the Spokesman's office.
The center is the biggest and most advanced center ever built in the country. The journalists and media will be able to enjoy advanced broadcasting positions, computer stands, hi -peed wireless internet connections, laptop work station's, fax and copy machines.
All broadcasts related to the Pope's visit will be transmitted from mobile units across the country live to the communication center through an optical fiber. It will be possible to use clean transmitting for radio and television transportation and so there will be live transportations through the municipality traffic cameras and dynamic maps on the routes that the Pope's convoy will be using.
From the communication center it will be possible to broadcast live on the background of spectacular views of the the Old City and the Mount of Olives spectacular views.
It is also possible to build studios in the communication center (coordinated with the Spokesman's office Jerusalem municipality – 02-6297744)
Parking will be available in the Municipality's parking lot by payment (12 Shekels an hour or 80 shekels for the day). In the afternoon, there will be free parking in the Russian Court right opposite the Municipality – the parking lot will be open. Further more, there is an option for free parking for mobile transmitting units at the entrance to the Municipality coordinated with the Spokesman's Office.
Jerusalem municipality has build an internal and external (on the patio) coffee shop for the press staff. During the activity hours, refreshments, soft drinks and coffee will be served, for free. It is possible to order in with payment from the restaurants downtown as well.
During opening hours the International Press Center will give briefings from the many groups involved in the visit: the Foreign Ministry, the Prime Ministers Office, the Israeli Police, the Mayor of Jerusalem, and more.
The first press conference will take place on Sunday at 16:00, attended by the Tourism minister and Mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat.
Foreign Journalists are welcome to visit the Tourism Ministry desk at the Communications Center.
