Israel and the UN signed a special agreement between Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) - to increase cooperation in food security, water management, women empowerment and industrial development in developing countries.

The end of the strike was made possible in the wake of the security prisoners' signature on a commitment not to engage in terrorism inside the prison walls in exchange for various easements. The security prisoners' leaders signed on behalf of all security prisoners.

Cultic shrines from time of King David

During recent archaeological excavations at Khirbet Qeiyafa, a fortified city in Judah adjacent to the Valley of Elah, Hebrew University Prof. Yosef Garfinkel and colleagues uncovered many art and cult objects and three large rooms that served as cultic shrines, which in their architecture and finds correspond to the biblical description of a cult at the time of King David.

Since 1967 more than one hundred thousand kibbutz volunteers have arrived in Israel. The kibbutz movement celebrated its centennial anniversary last year and among the many events was the special reunion trip for past volunteers. Following the success, the kibbutz movement is organizing a similar reunion trip for next year.

Prominent figures from abroad will be among the thousands expected to visit Agritech 2012 (15-17 May), an exhibition which showcases innovations, developments and inventions in the fields of agriculture and related technologies. A significant proportion of scientific research in Israel focuses on agro-technology, providing the foundation for start-up companies in this field.
