Parents of abducted soldiers meet with Tarje Larsen

Yesterday, 16 January, the families of the three IDF soldiers abducted by the Hizbullah in the Har Dov area - Benny Avraham, Adi Avitan and Omer Sawaid - met with Mr. Tarje Larsen, personal envoy of the Secretary General of the UN.

In the course of the meeting, which took place at the UN Headquarters in Jerusalem, the families viewed the video filmed by members of UN forces at the scene of the abduction, as well as pictures documenting the incident. In addition, the families received items of a personal nature that were found at the scene.

The viewing of the video and pictures and the transfer of the personal items were made possible following intensive contacts between the Foreign Ministry and the UN, including the personal intervention of Foreign Minister Shimon Peres with the UN Secretary General.
