Statement from PM Sharon's Bureau: Indian PM Vajpayee expresses condolences

Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee telephoned Prime Minister Ariel Sharon this morning (Wednesday), September 10, 2003, and expressed his condolences and those of the Indian government and people regarding last night's deadly terrorist attacks in Israel.

Indian Prime Minister Vajpayee thanked Prime Minister Sharon for the important issues that were discussed between the two countries' representatives and ministers, and emphasized that his government would do its utmost to continue deepening bilateral relations and cooperation in all areas that were discussed, especially the war on terror in which the two countries have similar interests.

Prime Minister Sharon thanked his Indian counterpart for the warm and exemplary manner in which he and the Israeli delegation were received by the Indian government and people. Prime Minister Sharon invited his host to visit Israel at the earliest possible opportunity.
