In response to a motion that was presented in the Knesset plenary, which dealt with the five resolutions regarding the Middle East of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), including the resolution declaring Rachel’s Tomb to be a mosque, Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon announced the suspension of Israel’s cooperation with the organization in the implementation of the five resolutions until these outrageous pronouncements are rescinded.

Deputy FM Ayalon added that these resolutions, which were adopted based on the automatic Arab majority in the organization, are another attempt led by the Palestinian Authority to delegitimize the State of Israel,. Mr. Ayalon emphasized that these types of declarations serve to distance peace and understanding between peoples. In the end, they harm UNESCO, which has been turned into a rubber stamp of the Palestinian Authority.
